Athens is 8-2 against Logan since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Chieftains at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Athens' favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Logan has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Athens' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against River Valley as they made off with a 13-0 victory. That looming 13-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.
Fern Sigman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Sigman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adyson Williams, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Ellie Beck-Aden was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Athens hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.
Logan couldn't beat Pickerington Central on Thursday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fourth inning. The Chieftains lost 17-7 to the Tigers.
Alyssa Hill and Savannah Rutter did some serious damage despite the final result: Hill went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Rutter earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Wadsworth, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The win got Athens back to even at 7-7. As for Logan, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Athens got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Logan by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Chieftains have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
