Hesperia Christian is 2-8 against Academy of Careers & Exploration since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Patriots will face off against the Eagle at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Hesperia Christian beats Academy of Careers & Exploration with 25 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 25-1 margin over Silver Valley on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on three straight.

Charli Lewis made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lewis was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hailey Hoffman, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyse VanderWeide, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Hesperia Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .657. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Academy of Careers & Exploration). They blew past Silver Valley 31-9 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Eagle have won by exactly 22 runs.
Izabella Sanchez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sanchez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Addison Shockley was a standout: she got on base in all six of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Taylor Coffel was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, nine RBI, and three runs.
Academy of Careers & Exploration is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.4 runs over those games. As for Hesperia Christian, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7-1.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hesperia Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .418. However, it's not like Academy of Careers & Exploration struggles in that department as they've averaged .496. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
