The Marionville Comets are on the road again on Friday and play against the North Platte Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on December 1st. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Marionville rose to the challenge on Saturday. They blew past the Indians, posting a 38-7 win on the road. Marionville's victory was all the more impressive since St. Vincent was averaging only 16.46 points allowed on the season.
Marionville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cash Pomeroy, who rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Hugh Eaton also helped out as he racked up 121 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, North Platte had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.6 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 54-34 margin over Milan. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Colton Kirkham had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 207 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 160 yards and a touchdown on only ten passes. Liam Servaes also helped out as he racked up 129 rushing yards.
Their wins bumped Marionville to 13-0 and St. Vincent to 9-4.
