The Northglenn Norsemen were the 45-34 winner over the Thornton Trojans when they last played one another on December 2nd, but their luck changed this time around. Northglenn fell just short of Thornton by a score of 43-41.
Northglenn's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trevor Dean, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Dean hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Hernandez, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Thornton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Cushing, who scored eight points along with four steals. Cushing continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Alex Sandovol was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Northglenn's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Thornton, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northglenn will face off against Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Brighton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday. Thornton will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Middle Park at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Joey Gagnon and Adrian Armendariz.
