Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Charlotte

Charlotte waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Port Charlotte Pirates 53-51. This was a revenge game for the Fightin' Tarpons: when they faced off against the Pirates back in December of 2024, they had to take a 56-41 loss.

Charlotte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adrienne Harris, who shot 6-for-11 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Those 17 points gave Harris a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Galley, who posted 16 points.

Charlotte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Charlotte's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Port Charlotte, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.

Charlotte didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-34 win against Unicoi County on the 17th. Port Charlotte has also already played their next game, a 56-36 victory against Bradenton Christian on the 17th.
