After two games on the road, Valley View is heading back home. They will welcome the Montrose Meteors at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
On Wednesday, Valley View didn't have quite enough to beat North Pocono and fell 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost five in a row.
Valley View saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Essig, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Montrose entered their tilt with Forest City on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They skirted past the Foresters 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Meteors have posted against the Foresters since April 25, 2019.
Chase Harman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Adam Sorensen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Sawyer Aukema was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Montrose was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Forest City only posted a batting average of .250.
Valley View's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Montrose, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Everything went Valley View's way against Montrose in their previous meeting back in May of 2017, as Valley View made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Meteors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
