Lawrenceburg has gone a perfect 3-0 against Switzerland County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Pacers at 5:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lawrenceburg 3.6, Switzerland County 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Lawrenceburg's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Batesville hitters got past them. The Tigers came up short against the Bulldogs on Monday, falling 12-2. The Tigers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Meanwhile, Switzerland County never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past South Ripley 7-0. Considering the Pacers have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Zayne Smith's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Carson Byrd was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Roman Hite, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Switzerland County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory made it two in a row for Switzerland County and bumps their season record up to 8-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Lawrenceburg, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lawrenceburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Switzerland County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lawrenceburg took their victory against Switzerland County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pacers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
