Wyoming Area is 7-2 against Hanover Area since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Warriors will host the Hawkeyes at 4:45 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Wyoming Area barely beat Wyoming Valley West the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors didn't even let the Spartans on the board on Tuesday, marking the Warriors' second-straight 13-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Alexa Gasek made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Josie Kivak and Addison Gaylord did most of the damage at the plate: Kivak scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Gaylord scored a run while going 2-for-4. Kivak continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jailynn Park was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Wyoming Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Hanover Area came up short against Berwick on Tuesday and fell 15-11. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawkeyes in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost six in a row.
Madison Ponko was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Malcarne, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5.
Wyoming Area's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Hanover Area, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wyoming Area hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Hanover Area struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wyoming Area took their victory against Hanover Area in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Hawkeyes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
