Piedmont is a perfect 5-0 against Pennington since November of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Piedmont comes in on six and Pennington on four.
Piedmont is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Locust Fork: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bulldogs blew the Hornets out of the water with a 49-9 final score. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Hornets are ranked 301st) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nick Mixson produced another solid performance rushing for 128 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. Rollie Pinto also helped with three scores in total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Piedmont was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 172 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Pinto, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from him.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pennington). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Saks 49-0. The Tigers pushed the score to 42-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats had no chance of recovering from.
Pennington found their leader in freshman Gibson Posey, who rushed for 137 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries. Posey also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending one pass. Another player making a difference was Noah McClendon, who gained 74 total yards and two touchdowns.
One reason for the win was Pennington's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. Leading the way was Juan Lopez with three. Another thorn in Saks' side was Ty Morgan, who picked up a sack, forced two fumbles, and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Piedmont's record is now 6-0. As for Pennington, their record now sits at 5-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Piedmont has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 254.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pennington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 229.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Piedmont took their win against Pennington when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 41-21 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
