The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Lincoln County is ranked 70th, while White Pine is ranked 73rd).
Lincoln County fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Lake Mead Academy on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 39-37. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lincoln County in their matchups with Lake Mead Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
White Pine can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 51-14 victory over Laughlin on the road. White Pine's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
White Pine found their leader in underclassman Brenley Skadburg, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and eight steals. Skadburg also pulled down eight+ rebounds for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Mallory Thompson, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Lincoln County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for White Pine, their victory bumped their record up to 1-4.
Lincoln County beat White Pine 48-40 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Lincoln County repeat their success, or does White Pine have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
