If The Antelope Rams were feeling good off their 37-8 takedown of the St. John Paul II Catholic Lions last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Antelope was beaten by Tonopah Valley 52-15 on Friday. Antelope was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Tonopah Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.
Despite the loss, Antelope still got an impressive performance from Kenan Ragels, who picked up 123 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Tonopah Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sir-izzik S?nchez caldwell led the charge by rushing for 107 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, while also picking up 80 receiving yards. Malachi Wilt was another key contributor, throwing for 381 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75.8% of his passes.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Antelope to a paltry 172 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Tonopah Valley's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out eight times before it was all said and done. Antelope's QB won't forget Sir-jessie Caldwell anytime soon given Caldwell sacked him eight times.
Antelope's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Tonopah Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Antelope will head out on the road to face off against Trivium Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Trivium Prep is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Tonopah Valley will take on Madison Highland Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Joseph Lungo and Wilt.
