Two dominant backs in Ryan Estrada and Camron Johnson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The El Dorado Aztecs will welcome the Americas Trail Blazers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Americas will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: El Dorado extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Aztecs blew past Bel Air 77-27. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Aztecs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Highlanders are ranked 908th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead El Dorado to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brycen Booth, who threw for 229 yards and four TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. What's more, Booth racked up 163.2 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Kevin Samuel helped Booth out on the ground, rushing for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries.
Meanwhile, Americas was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Parkland 34-7.
Americas' win came from a few key players El Dorado will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Maurice Edwards, who picked up 105 receiving yards and a pair of scores. He was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 69 yards. Another passer making a difference was Emiliano Gonzalez, who threw for 267 yards and two TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes.
Americas was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 204 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 192 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
One reason for the win was Americas' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Jose De La Rosa was especially locked on to Parkland's QB and sacked him twice. With that strong performance, De La Rosa is now averaging an impressive 5.2 total tackles per game.
Americas' win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for El Dorado, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
El Dorado was able to grind out a solid win over Americas in their previous meeting on October 3rd, winning 28-20. Will the Aztecs repeat their success, or do the Trail Blazers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
