The High Point Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Friendly Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 21 consecutive losses dating back to last season for High Point and five for the Patriots.
High Point pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 64-57 to Parkdale. High Point has not had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ibrahim Turay, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Daniel Eze was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Friendly was beaten by the Yellowjackets 64-31 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Friendly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 21st).
High Point dropped their record down to 0-16 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Friendly, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
High Point was dealt a bruising 80-42 loss at the hands of the Patriots in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can High Point avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
