Lutheran South Academy has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against Emery/Weiner at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Lutheran South Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Emery/Weiner will be coming in after a loss.
Lutheran South Academy has not lost a match since December 15, 2023, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. They never let Frassati Catholic onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. Mason Hoggatt had to tread lightly for part of the match after he was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble Lutheran South Academy got from the refs.
Lutheran South Academy was led to victory by the tag-team duo of Hoggatt and
Brody Smith, who scored both of Lutheran South Academy's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 27 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Emery/Weiner's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 6-0 defeat at the hands of The Woodlands Christian Academy.
Lutheran South Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6-5 record this season. As for Emery/Weiner, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Lutheran South Academy took their win against Emery/Weiner in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 9-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lutheran South Academy since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
