Even though the Brighton Bulldogs scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, the Fossil Ridge SaberCats still came out on top. Fossil Ridge walked away with a 63-56 victory over Brighton. Given Fossil Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Brighton is ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eli Nutting was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Cayden Clagett was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Brighton saw an underclassman step up: Austin Sickler scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Corey Morgan, who scored eight points.
Fossil Ridge pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Brighton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Fossil Ridge will be playing at home against Boulder at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Boulder is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Brighton, they will head out on the road to challenge Mountain Range at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Range is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52 points per game.
