The Mount Pisgah Christian Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Marietta, falling 70-37. Mount Pisgah Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-18.
Kayla Day was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with seven steals for Marietta. That makes it three consecutive games in which Day has scored at least 25% of Marietta's points. Another player making a difference was Lyric Turner, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 steals.
Mount Pisgah Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Marietta, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Mount Pisgah Christian will head out on the road to face off against Whitefield Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Whitefield Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 518th, while Mount Pisgah Christian is ranked 122nd). Marietta and Gainesville will face off at 1:20 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
