The Pine Ridge Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Deltona by a score of 74-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (67), Pine Ridge still had to take the loss.
Pine Ridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jyles Newman, who scored 20 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Canyon Powers, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists.
Pine Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Deltona, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Pine Ridge will head out on the road to face off against Father Lopez at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Father Lopez and Pine Ridge are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Deltona, Deltona and DME Academy Blue will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. DME Academy Blue will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 398th, while Deltona is ranked 124th).
