Ainsley Thomas led a balanced group of hitters, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Presley Harrison was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Providence Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Charlotte Country Day School a 12-0 shutout on Thursday. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Rachel Lyons made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Audrey Glosson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Elle Sigg, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Providence Day pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Both North Raleigh Christian Academy and Providence Day just can't seem to miss. The Knights have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Providence Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
