NANTUCKET, Mass. -
Upper Cape Cod RVT (Bourne, Mass.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 22-19 victory over
Nantucket (Mass.) on Saturday. The Rams captured the lead for good when
Jonathan Dumont ran for a two-point conversion.
After taking the lead on a
Bryan Depass touchdown pass to
Terrel Correia, the Whalers went into halftime with a 7-6 lead. The Rams scored the winning points with a two-point conversion that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring zero points in the third, Upper Cape Cod RVT still trailed by 1 point going into the fourth quarter. But 16 points in the fourth helped UCCR pull out the victory.
With the win the Bourne school extended its winning streak to six games. The Rams defeated the Vikings 22-14 last week.
Depass played well for Nantucket. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Dumont stood out for Upper Cape Cod RVT in the win. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which NHS took, 49-28.
The loss comes after Nantucket defeated West Bridgewater 20-14 last week. The loss snapped the Whalers' 2-game winning streak.
Nantucket (3-4) goes up against South Shore Vo-Tech in a Mayflower - Small game matchup next week, while Upper Cape Cod RVT (6-0) locks horns with Old Colony RVT also in a Mayflower - Small game.
