Baseball Recap: Terre Haute South Vigo Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Terre Haute South Vigo can now relate to. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bloomington North Cougars on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 back in April.

Terre Haute South Vigo got a good showing from Austin Semmler, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Semmler has become a key player for the Braves: the team is 7-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Cam Hoke made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Noah Fields, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Terre Haute South Vigo's loss dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Bloomington North, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-10.

Terre Haute South Vigo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bloomington North, they will square off against Terre Haute North Vigo at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
