Verndale is 9-1 against Bertha-Hewitt since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Verndale Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Bertha-Hewitt Bears at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Verndale has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 69-62 to Upsala on Tuesday. Verndale has not had much luck with Upsala recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Even though Bertha-Hewitt has not done well against Sebeka recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Bertha-Hewitt blew past Sebeka 64-41.
Verndale's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Bertha-Hewitt, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season.
Verndale didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Bertha-Hewitt when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 61-55 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Verndale since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
