After a string of three wins, Hidalgo's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the La Joya Coyotes an easy 44-22 win. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 34-20 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2022.
La Joya's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Debany Garza led the charge by putting up ten points and five steals. That's the most steals Garza has posted since back in November. Another player making a difference was Cynthia Longoria, who posted eight points.
