The Hamilton County Foxes won the last time they faced the Pinckneyville Panthers, and things went their way on Saturday too. Hamilton County came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 50-43.
Hamilton County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Rayci Phelps out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Phelps has scored at least a third of Hamilton County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalin Nichols, who scored 11 points.
Hamilton County's victory bumped their record up to 13-15. As for Pinckneyville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamilton County is on the road again on Monday and plays the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Carterville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Foxes in Illinois (the Lions are ranked 75th, while the Foxes are ranked 358th). As for Pinckneyville, they will head out on the road to square off against the Indians/Lady Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Carlyle will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
