This season hasn't been kind to The Tornillo Coyotes, who are still winless after their eighth game. They were beaten by Alpine 43-0 on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tornillo in their matchups with Alpine: they've now lost eight in a row.
It was another big night for Logan Smith, who rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown. Smith was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Jj Victorino got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Tornillo's loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 0.8 points per game. As for Alpine, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Tornillo will be playing at home against Compass Academy at 6:30 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Alpine, they will head out on the road to face off against Crane at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. One thing working in Crane's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
