Aztec is 1-9 against the Bobcats since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Aztec Tigers will be playing at home against the Bloomfield Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Aztec knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully the Bobcats like a good challenge.
Even though Aztec has not done well against the Patriots recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Aztec snuck past the Patriots with a 71-67 win. The win was just what Aztec needed coming off of a 86-66 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Bloomfield was able to grind out a solid win over the Chieftains on Saturday, taking the game 53-46.
Andrew Florez was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Bloomfield's points. Another player making a difference was Sam Slivers, who scored 15 points.
Aztec's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-16. As for Bloomfield, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
Aztec came up short against the Bobcats in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 57-49. Can Aztec avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
