The Okeechobee Brahmans will take on the Jensen Beach Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Okeechobee is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Dr. Joaquin Garcia, sneaking past 10-8. The victory was familiar territory for the Brahmans, who have now won four contests in a row.
Okeechobee got a massive performance out of Audra Friend, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Pendrey, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Okeechobee hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 8-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Jensen Beach got themselves on the board against Suncoast on Tuesday, but Suncoast never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Chargers. The Falcons have beaten the Chargers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Chargers has come to flipping the script.
Suncoast's batters probably weren't too happy with Riley Boop, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (she gave up a single walk). Boop has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cali Mendenhall was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last ten times she's played. Izzy Ouellette was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Okeechobee's record is now 14-10. As for Jensen Beach, their record now sits at 11-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Okeechobee has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Jensen Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Okeechobee couldn't quite finish off Jensen Beach in their previous matchup back in March and fell 4-2. Can the Brahmans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
