Two dominant players in Aaron Stewart and Jamichael Green are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Riverside Bulldogs's road trip will continue as they head out to face the South Delta Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m. on December 12th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though Riverside has not done well against St. Joseph recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Riverside claimed a resounding 72-34 victory over St. Joseph on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Riverside has managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Otis Williams, who scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals. Williams set a new season high mark in steals with three. The team also got some help courtesy of BJ Amos, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, South Delta was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 63-57 to Port Gibson. South Delta has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ahmani Lee, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The match was Lee's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Emmanuel Sutton, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Riverside's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for South Delta, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Riverside hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 58.8 points per game. It's a different story for South Delta, though, as they've been averaging only 59.6 points per game. The only thing between Riverside and another offensive beatdown is South Delta. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Riverside beat South Delta 42-34 when the teams last played back in November. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverside since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
