Basketball Recap: Superior Falls Despite Big Games from Stephanie Lopez and Faith Denogean

Superior lost against San Simon back in November of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Superior Panthers fell 23-11 to the San Simon Longhorns. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured ten defeats in a row.

Superior's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Faith Denogean, who posted no points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Stephanie Lopez, who had two points and four steals. Denogean has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times she's played.

San Simon was led to victory by Alyzon Corrales and Hollie Keil. Corrales put up two points and ten steals, while Keil scored six points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Superior's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for San Simon, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Superior will square off against Cicero Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Simon, they will face off against San Manuel at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Simon is facing San Manuel at the right time seeing as San Manuel is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
