After flying high against the Mitchell Tigers last Tuesday, the Gering Bulldogs came back down to earth. Gering was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 53-52 to North Platte. Gering was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North Platte apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Jesse Mauch was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 1 assist for North Platte. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Joneson, who scored 12 points.
Gering's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for North Platte, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gering will take on Scottsbluff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Scottsbluffpresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gering in Nebraska (Scottsbluff is ranked 28th, while Gering is ranked 125th). As for North Platte, they will play host again and welcome Northwest, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
