Even though The LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls have not done well against the Avon Park Red Devils recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. LaBelle blew past Avon Park 32-10. The result was nothing new for LaBelle, who have now won three contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Isaac Santamaria, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 20 yards and a touchdown.
LaBelle's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Avon Park and 1-5 BridgePrep Village Green (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 16.7% over those games). As for Avon Park, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. LaBelle will take on Indian Rocks Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Avon Park, they have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Clewiston at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th.
