Baseball Recap: Charles Henderson Has No Trouble Against Greenbrier

The Charles Henderson Trojans got the win against the Greenbrier Bobcats on Monday by a conclusive 14-4. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Clay Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Blake Lowery looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Wes Templin and Cooper Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Templin went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Johnson scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Johnson a new career-high in RBI (two). Owen Pugh also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Charles Henderson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Charles Henderson now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Greenbrier, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Charles Henderson has already played their next game, a 6-5 loss against Robertsdale on the 17th. As for Greenbrier, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-5 victory against Powell on the 18th.
