Hicks proved they can win big on Friday (they won by nine) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cedar Creek Cougars, sneaking past 9-7. The victory was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Courtlyn Dousay made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Dousay was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Katie-Grace Quinn was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayde Wilbanks, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Looking ahead, Hicks will be taking part in a tournament against Vinton at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
