They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy. While losing is never fun, Texas Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 635th, while Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy is ranked 272nd).
Despite the loss, Texas Christian saw an underclassman step up: Jean Hirwa scored 28 points along with 7 assists. Hirwa scored a full 45.9% of Texas Christian's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brecken Pelzel, who scored 13 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayden Boyd, who scored 33 points. The match was Boyd's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Jaimon Joseph was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Texas Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Texas Christian will be playing at home against Shady Acres Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lake Houston HomeSchool at 6:30 p.m. on December 11th.
