Hartselle (Ala.) had a big 24-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 45-0 victory over West Point (Cullman, Ala.).
The Tigers scored on a
Nicholas Hillman touchdown run, a touchdown run by
Tvlasio Stover and a
Brett Blackwood touchdown pass to
Sidney Steele in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a
Caleb Finn touchdown run in the first quarter, Hartselle led 31-0 at the half.
HHS expanded its lead to 45 points entering the fourth quarter. The Tigers scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by
Deacon Aldridge to Steele.
Steele stood out for Hartselle in the win. The senior wide receiver caught two touchdowns.
HHS went into the matchup giving up only 14.2 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 44-10 win for the Tigers.
The loss comes after West Point defeated Lawrence County 43-0 last week. The victory was a step in the right direction for Hartselle, which was coming off a 28-21 defeat at the hands of Muscle Shoals in its previous game.
West Point (2-5) goes up against Muscle Shoals in a 5A Region 8 game matchup next week, while Hartselle (5-2) locks horns with East Limestone also in a 5A Region 8 game.
