It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the KIPP Esperanza Eagles ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against East Palo Alto Academy by a score of 45-38. Winning may never get old, but KIPP Esperanza sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
KIPP Esperanza found their leader in underclassman Eddie Whiteside, who scored 34 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Whiteside has scored at least 25% of KIPP Esperanza's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tuli Vea, who scored six points.
KIPP Esperanza's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for East Palo Alto Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Mid-Peninsula the next time they take the court. KIPP Esperanza will host Mid-Peninsula at TBD on Wednesday, while East Palo Alto Academy will head out to face them at TBD on January 8, 2024.
