The Contreras Cobras's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 48-41 loss to Triumph Charter.
Triumph Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antonio Garcia III, who scored 17 points. The match was Garcia III's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Oswaldo Araiza was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Contreras' defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Triumph Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Contreras will look to defend their home court on Monday against Belmont at 4:00 p.m. Belmont is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Triumph Charter won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Aspire Ollin at 11:30 a.m. on January 6th. Aspire Ollin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1325th, while Triumph Charter is ranked 576th).
