Softball Recap: Westside's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Westside brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They never let the Cross County Thunderbirds get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Mckyna Craig was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kimber Wynn was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Bella Black was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

With the win, Westside broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-6. As for Cross County, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Looking ahead, Westside will head out on the road to challenge Blytheville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chickasaws have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.09 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cross County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tuckerman at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Thunderbirds surely won't give up without a fight.
