Milford is 0-10 against Panguitch since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Milford Tigers will look to defend their home court against the Panguitch Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Milford didn't have too much trouble with Green River at home as they won 70-56.
Milford relied on the efforts of Tanu Aaitui, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Sadler Barnes, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten assists. It was the first time this season that Aaitui scored 15 or more points. Kielen Tsosie was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Panguitch put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Bryce Valley 66-35 at home. The win was familiar territory for Panguitch who now have eight in a row.
Panguitch had a senior duo take command as Cache Eyre scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks and Cameron Parkin scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Eyre has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Remme Chappell, who scored 11 points.
Milford's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Panguitch, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Milford hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.1 points per game. However, it's not like Panguitch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 64.9 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Milford was dealt a bruising 61-26 loss at the hands of Panguitch in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Milford have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
