The Nueces Canyon Panthers typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Sweetwater Mustangs proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 43-34. The win was nothing new for Sweetwater as they're now sitting on three straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sweetwater to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mallory Gibson, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Lauren Biera, who scored 12 points.
Despite the defeat, Nueces Canyon had strong showings from Madison Sifuentes, who scored 14 points, and Schreiner Meredith, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was Meredith's 13th in a row with at least ten points.
Sweetwater's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6. As for Nueces Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-2.
Sweetwater and McCamey will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. McCamey is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Nueces Canyon won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rocksprings at 11:00 a.m. on December 9th. Rocksprings will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
