Softball Recap: Stillwater Has No Trouble Against Maple Grove

Stillwater barely beat Maple Grove the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Ponies blew past the Crimson 10-2 on Saturday. Considering the Ponies have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Stillwater let Mackenzie Zrust and Amber Buchkoski run wild. Zrust went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Buchkoski went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Buchkoski has posted since back in April. Elin Skilling was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Stillwater and bumps their season record up to 12-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Maple Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stillwater will host Cretin-Derham Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Maple Grove, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against East Ridge at 7:00 p.m.
