The Center Yellowjackets will head out to challenge the Harmon Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Center has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Center fell victim to Clinton and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 13-0.
Meanwhile, Harmon can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Northeast. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won seven contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Dylan Munoz was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Harmon is undefeated when Munoz posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Harmon let Chad Taylor and Izak Tovar run wild. Taylor went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Tovar went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Tovar a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Avalos, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Harmon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Harmon's record now sits at 9-10. As for Center, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Center has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Harmon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Center's way against Harmon when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Center made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
