Coxsackie-Athens is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Hudson is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Riverhawks will welcome the Bluehawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Coxsackie-Athens 2.1, Hudson 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
If Coxsackie-Athens beats Hudson with 13 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Riverhawks were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Greenville on Wednesday. The Riverhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Coxsackie-Athens got a great performance from CJ VanAlphen as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). VanAlphen has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Weinstein, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Sager, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Hudson hadn't beaten Chatham on the road since May 12, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Bluehawks came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 9-6.
Gannon Logue made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Logue was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Hudson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Ryan Conte was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Amarion Perry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Coxsackie-Athens has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Hudson, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Coxsackie-Athens has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hudson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Coxsackie-Athens was able to grind out a solid win over Hudson when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 6-2. Will the Riverhawks repeat their success, or do the Bluehawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
