Baseball Recap: North Pike Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

It was a proper cat-fight when North Pike took on Bogue Chitto on Saturday. The Jaguars were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Bobcats. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Ty Jones was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Dominic Smith, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact: North Pike kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for the Jaguars: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.2.

The win was the fifth in a row for North Pike, bringing their record up to 19-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Bogue Chitto, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Pike will host South Jones at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Bogue Chitto, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Amite County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
