The Rossville Hornets will challenge the Central Noble Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rossville will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Rossville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Rochester. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 19 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Avery Layton made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Autumn Paschal, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addi Gorbett, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Central Noble waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Starfires.
Like Rossville, Central Noble also got a great game from a two-way player: Grace Swank. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Swank was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Swank wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kensy Kimmell, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Kennedy Vice was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Rossville's record is now 23-5. As for Central Noble, their record now sits at 24-5.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Rossville has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Central Noble struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
