Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Hazel Park

Hazel Park waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They beat the Center Line Panthers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-7. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 17-7 win on Tuesday.

Josh Wilkowski made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. Hazel Park is undefeated when Wilkowski posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Tyshawn Whitley was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Hazel Park: the team is 8-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Barkle, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Hazel Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

Hazel Park's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Center Line, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.
