Lindbergh is 0-7 against Sammamish since March of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the RedHawks at 3:30 p.m. Lindbergh is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
On Thursday, Lindbergh had just enough and edged out Highline 7-5. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Isaiah Soto-Hernandez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Aaron Melendres-Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Sammamish made easy work of Evergreen on Wednesday and carried off an 8-2 win. Considering the RedHawks have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Josh Perez made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ozzie Turner, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Dayne Castillo was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Sammamish was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Evergreen only posted a batting average of .136.
Sammamish's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Lindbergh, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lindbergh has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Sammamish struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lindbergh couldn't quite finish off Sammamish in their previous meeting on April 4th and fell 8-6. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
