The Pearl Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Puckett Wolves at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated (Pearl has six wins , while Puckett has eight dating back to last season).
Pearl is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Richland on Thursday as they made off with a 19-6 win. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by exactly 13 runs.
Lauryn Lee was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Ashlynn Chappell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Pearl was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .543. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Puckett got themselves on the board against Richland on Tuesday, but Richland never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rangers with a sharp 15-0 victory. Fans of the Wolves have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Lila Murphy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Shivers, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Aubree Thomas was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Pearl's record now sits at 6-0. As for Puckett, their record is now 8-0.
Pearl came out on top in a nail-biter against Puckett when the teams last played back in February of 2025, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
