Eaton extended the longest winning streak in 2A Patriot this week by beating Aspen, 56-0. This was the team's 10th consecutive win.
Platte Valley was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating La Junta. The Broncos came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 40 last week.
Mitchel Martin and Jacob Smith gave Strasburg a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Martin threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns, while Smith ran for 189 yards. Teammate Spencer Blauw added to the ground attack by rushing for 41 yards.
Randy Baker was the best wideout in the league this week as Brush beat Manitou Springs. Baker tallied seven receptions for 146 yards. Michael Gutierrez helped Brush's passing attack out by catching one ball for 31 yards.
Damien Chavarria made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Indians lost to Kent Denver. The 5-foot-8 senior pulled down one interception.
Mitch Tormohlen provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Beetdiggers bested the Mustangs. He completed 11 passes for 242 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 22 yards.
Fort Lupton's Jeff Merritt and Jalen Vasquez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Merritt has thrown for 1673 yards this season, while Vasquez, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 43 catches for 775 yards. Eaton's Austin Ekeler leads the league in rushing yards with 2326.
