Yazoo County has gone 8-2 against Humphreys County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will take on the Cowboys at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It was a proper cat-fight when Yazoo County duked it out with Winona on Tuesday. The Panthers blew past the Tigers 9-3. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Parker Barron made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Gabe Shaffer was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. Josh Snow was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Humphreys County entered their tilt with Edwards on Friday with 11 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 12. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 20-5 victory.
Like Yazoo County, Humphreys County also got a great game from a two-way player: Kuriston Smith. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. Smith has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double.
In other batting news, Xaylen Henderson was a standout: he scored five runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Ray, who scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Humphreys County pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Yazoo County, their record is now 15-8.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Yazoo County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .492. However, it's not like Humphreys County struggles in that department as they've averaged .523. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Yazoo County came up short against Humphreys County in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 3-0. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
