Fort Myers has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Fort Myers Green Wave and the Loyola Academy Ramblers will round out the year against one another at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday at. Fort Myers will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 274th in Florida, while Loyola Academy is ranked 67th in Illinois).
Last Wednesday, Fort Myers lost to Bishop Verot at home by a decisive 58-39 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fort Myers has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jacory Clark, who scored four points. Another player making a difference was Marquielle Tory, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Loyola Academy earned a 42-34 victory over Niles Notre Dame on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Loyola Academy.
Fort Myers' loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. As for Loyola Academy, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
Fort Myers came up short against Loyola Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 56-48. Can Fort Myers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
